Slip resistance testing in accordance with Australian Standards is the first step in assessing the slip risk of floors and is the only reliable way to measure slip resistance of the floor surface to enable evaluation of the risk of people slipping . When completed, slip resistance testing demonstrates that a proactive approach is applied to quantitatively evaluate the risk of people slipping and enable decisions for taking appropriate action to mitigate the risk. Other individual and environmental factors also contribute to the risk of slip and fall and are required to be considered in the overall floor slip risk assessment.

To request a slip resistance test, call 0428 680 882, provide the location of the site to be tested along with the tests required and a quotation will be promptly sent. If you need assistance in the determination of appropriate tests, just let us know at the time of your call.

At least one wet testing method should be used for all external pedestrian surfaces and internal surfaces that have a reasonably foreseeable risk of the presence of wet substances such as water, grease and/or oil.

Continuous monitoring of your  existing pedestrian surface through regular testing will ensure the risk of slipping remains known and a responsible risk management plan is maintained.

STMW is NATA accredited facility to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories to ensure that you receive the most accurate and reliable slip resistance testing results. Not only do we conduct floor slip resistance testing services

We can undertake floor slip resistance testing and certification on NATA endorsed reports. Our slip resistance testing reports provides evidence of suitability when tendering for construction jobs and fit outs. For floor treatment companies we can conduct slip resistance testing on sample treatments or after large scale anti-slip or non-slip treatments.

We recommend the Wet Pendulum Test where there is a likelihood of the surface being worn or contaminated. This test offers the advantage of slip resistance determination on installed surfaces, which can be used to qualify slip resistance under a wide range of environmental conditions. Importantly, it can also provide a measure of the inevitable change in slip resistance over time enabling the risk of slipping to be monitored. The pendulum is also recommended for sample testing and rating of new floor surfaces prior to installation.
